Altered Perfume Bottle

This was my project, as a guest designer, for the April 2016 Challenge - “Be Romantic” - on Scaps N Pieces – the Blog.

I had an empty bottle of my favorite perfume – that I wanted to use – and its shape reminded me of ancient Greek sculptures.

I drew my inspiration from Nike of Samothrace, a marble Hellenistic sculpture that has been displayed at the Louvre Museum, since 1884.

It was very convenient, that there was a pair of embossed wings on the perfume’s box! I fussy cut them and stuck on them, some Tesa Aluminium Tape. Then, with a ball stylus clay sculpting tool, I worked on the feathers details, to give the wings more texture.

I glued the wings at the back side of the bottle, with gel medium. Next, I covered the surface with masking tape, to give the impression of wrinkled fabric. For the head, I used one of my daughters “broken” Barbies! I shaped the hair into a more ancient Greek hairstyle.

At the front side, I glued a small resin frame by Scrapberry's, and then I glued - all around it – a piece of white lace from my stash. Inside the frame, I glued a piece of Prima Mechanicals Vintage Centers.

I gave the whole assemblage, a coat of Art Basics Heavy Gesso White. I, randomly, applied some Decoart Texture Crackle Paste. Then, I added a few Prima paper flowers and Prima Mechanical Flowers, medium and mini. I embellished the flowers centers with self-adhesive gems.

Next, I applied on the whole surface, a coat of Chalky Finish “Promise”. On top of that, I added several layers of Pearl Ex purple and blue colors.

I highlighted some details, with Faber Castell Big Brush Pitt Artist Pens and Twinkling Η2Οs watercolors. I randomly stamped, with a stamp from Bo Bunny Distressed Textures Clear Background Set and Jet Black Archival Ink.
