Chinese Party Table Decorations #G45Party May Challenge
Hello everyone!
Although a mixed media artist, I always take up the opportunity to do some paper crafting, especially when a Graphic 45 challenge is open!
This time the Party theme was so inspiring and I had the chance to use an old but so gorgeous paper collection, the “Bird Song”.
Creating many coordinating decorative pieces with these design papers was so exciting. What is more, I was very pleased to see how the particular collection matched up with other collections like “City Scapes” and “Typography”, which I also used to create some details, like a gift box, a delicate buttefly or a fortune cookie!
I used dies to create ornate windows on the lanterns, some butterflies and cute little flowers.
The two rectangular lanterns measure 6’ x 4’ and 5’ x 3’. For the windows I used a Spellbinder die called “Celtic Medallion 2” and for the little flowers a die set by Sweet Dixie called “Delicate Blossoms”. The butterflies are from Sizzix. I used some chopsticks to create the lanterns frames.
To make the Chinese take-out boxes I used a template I found on the internet. For the square gift box I used a Sizzix die.
To make the fan, I used the base of a regular fan bought in a flea market - for 1 euro! - and decorated it with G45 paper. Also used some red and gold patina and did some fussy cutting to decorate the fan’s edge.
I folded a napkin into a kimono design and created a “belt” with paper, to hold the napkin in place.
I created the big round lantern by using a mason jar for the body. For the small ones I used kitchen roll tubes, which I painted with gold acrylic paint. You can also see some G45 washi tape from the “Typography”set.
That project was really fascinating and I could go on making decorations forever! I certainly hope that Graphic 45 will consider creating a special pack for parties!
I hope that you enjoyed this project as much as I did!
Always stay tuned for more projects are coming up!
Thank you for visiting my blog!
Until next time,
Be Brave, Be Who You Want to Be!
